Well, maybe it’s not quite as exciting as it sounds. In Japan, it is typical to require a lot of formality at work. Japan’s Prime Minister, Junichiro Koizumi, has recently started to encourage companies to help their employees abandon their suits and ties. With the recent heat Japan has been experiencing, this will not only make the staff more relaxed, but also reduce CO2 emissions caused by overuse of air conditioning.
The Japanese public television network NHK was interested in seeing how companies outside of Japan try to encourage a more relaxed working environment. I’ve always held the belief that happy people are productive people and have designed Xibis around this philosophy. They filmed interviews with us all and even took footage of our mid-afternoon stress-busting football match.
