Solution

Ruby & Ed launched their premier brand of house slippers to appeal to those people who like something a little different. Their aim was to launch the branded website 6 weeks before Christmas 2007 to get maximum impact in their market sector. The website was designed by Fuse Digital to be easy to use and allow visitors the ability to browse through their full range of products. The website needed to incorporate a click-to-buy e-commerce system for the retail market

Making an imprint
Ruby & Ed spotted demand in the market and launched a brand new range of luxury house slippers.

Following a meeting with award-winning design house Fuse Digital, a website was designed with a strong character which was easy to use and added an identity to their brand and value to their products. The website included an easy-to-use e-commerce system that allowed customers to purchase their products over the Internet.

Creating the brand
Fuse Digital created the simple but effective look and feel for the website. The project was then passed over to Xibis to build the database and bespoke software, bringing the system to life.

Simple control
The website is controlled by a sophisticated content management system (CMS) that enables Ruby & Ed office staff to have full control over the visual aspects of each page of the website, keeping it fresh and appealing for visitors.

The website includes a trade member log in area which allows trade buyers to purchase products in bulk. The database holds the trade members’ details and each trade member receives different pricing depending on the product and quantity ordered. Replacement stock is then ordered automatically by the database.

Stock control
The system automatically updates itself by synchronising data between itself and Ruby & Ed’s distribution centre’s control system. This keeps the web site stock information constantly up to date and prevents orders that cannot be fulfilled.

The site handles individual purchase and carriage details for each customer and feeds data into an automated order and dispatch system to ensure maximum efficiency with minimal manual input.

The customer data captured can be utilised to generate further interest in the brand by creating bulletins and newsletters on sales and promotions directly from the CMS.

The three best things about working with Xibis, according to Fuse Digital:
1. We were given a quotation for building the website once the final specification was agreed and that was the price we paid.
2. The project was built within tight time lines running up to Christmas. The client wanted the project developed and uploaded fast. Xibis delivered a quality project on time without any complications.
3. The website did all we expected and more. Our clients were very happy with the end result and we shall continue to use Xibis for our web development.

comments

The site does exactly what we wanted it to; we have had many favourable comments from our customers - at the end of the day, it is their views which really count and help to build a business.
