Solution
Norfolk A2Z approached Xibis, requiring an e-directory site for Norfolk business listings. The online directory required many categories, with each category containing different types of data to be stored and maintained by a website administrator.
- Business owners who want to create their own listings on the site can register, login, and then add and amend their appropriate company details to the site.
- An alphabetical search brings up a list of businesses, charities, business types, towns/villages and events starting with the selected letter. The results are grouped separately so that visitors can easily determine to which sector they belong to.
- The site administrator is also able to place various banner ads onto the site at different locations. Each banner ad can be placed within a number of categories or locations. The system prevents the administrator from adding two banner ads of the same type to the same location or category. Banners are randomly selected from the database are advertised where appropriate.
In addition to a fully searchable events database, Norfolk A2Z also wanted visitors to be able to submit new events, which appear on the site following approval by the administrator.
