Press releases are a key resource for journalists, but the sheer volume sent out each day can create wastage and frustration on both sides of the PR relationship.

PRFilter finds the press releases that individual journalists and bloggers actually want to see. It gives users a single tool to pick out the right stories from thousands the software gathers each day, from paid newswires and selected company news feeds. The application was created and designed by RealWire, a global press release distribution service specialising in online media. Xibis assisted with the application’s development by programming and implementing a multi-indexed database, working closely with RealWire’s in-house design team. We also provided full project management of our element of the development process.

Each day the software performs millions of matches between press releases and the profiles of thousands of journalists and bloggers. The application manages significant volumes of data, using large-scale indexes in order to optimise performance.

Creating an individual profile requires registration, but ad hoc searches are available at http://prfilter.com.
